Palak Paneer




Ingredients :

spinach(palak) - 2 bunches
cottage cheese(paneer) - 250gms
onions, tomatoes - 2 medium sized
butter - 2 tablespoons
coriander powder - 1 tablespoon
chilli powder - 1 teaspoon
cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
cashewnuts - 10
yogurt - 1/2 cup (3 small pots)
salt, sugar - 1spoon
cloves, bay leaf(patta in tamil), pepper - to taste
turmeric powder - just a little bit.

  1. Fry and powder cumin.
  2. Fry and powder cloves, bay leaf and pepper.
  3. Fry and smash spinach.
  4. Soak the cashewnuts in warm water and make a paste.
  5. Cut the cheese into small pieces and fry it in butter.
  6. Cut the onions and tomatoes.
  7. Heat onions, add cumin powder, chilli powder, coriander powder.
  8. Add the tomatoes and sauté.
  9. Add curd and allow it to boil in slow heat.
  10. Add salt to taste and a little bit of sugar.
  11. Add the spinach and turmeric powder.
  12. Add the fried cheese to the above.
  13. Mix all the ingredients well.
  14. Now, add the cashewnut paste to the above.
  15. Allow it to become thick and then add the masala powder made out of cloves, bay leaf and pepper.
Serve it with chapathi or fried rice.
