2 cups all-purpose flour
1 envelope yeast (I used Fleischman's Pizza yeast)
1.5 tsp sugar
3/4 tsp salt
tap water as needed
3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
Ingredients for Pizza sauce:
1 (28 oz.) can whole peeled tomatoes, drained
1 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
1 tsp. red wine vinegar
2 cloves garlic, minced or pressed
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. oregano
¼ tsp. ground black pepper
- PREHEAT oven to 425degreeF
- COMBINE 1 cup flour, yeast, sugar and salt in a large bowl. Add water and oil. Mix together until well blended for about 1 min.
- ADD gradually rest of the flour until soft dough ball is formed; it will be slightly sticky. Add additional olive oil or flour to form a dough ball.
- KNEAD until it gets smooth and elastic for about 5 minutes.
- ROLL the dough into a circle and place it on a greased pan(I greased it using olive oil; you can use butter too if you prefer it).
- For pizza sauce, COMBINE all ingredients in a food processor. Blend until smooth, about 30 seconds.
- TOP the pizza with pizza sauce(directions below), toppings and cheese. I've tried with chicken, sausage, olives, onions and cheese. And another with Ham, sausage and pineapple, topped with cheese.
- BAKE on bottom rack of the oven for 12 to 15mins or until all the ingredients are cooked and the cheese is bubbly and the crust is brown.
