Thin Crust Pizza

Ingredients for Crust

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 envelope yeast (I used Fleischman's Pizza yeast)
1.5 tsp sugar
3/4 tsp salt
tap water as needed
3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil

Ingredients for Pizza sauce:

1 (28 oz.) can whole peeled tomatoes, drained
1 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
1 tsp. red wine vinegar
2 cloves garlic, minced or pressed
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. oregano
¼ tsp. ground black pepper

  1. PREHEAT oven to 425degreeF
  2. COMBINE 1 cup flour, yeast, sugar and salt in a large bowl. Add water and oil. Mix together until well blended for about 1 min.
  3. ADD gradually rest of the flour until soft dough ball is formed; it will be slightly sticky. Add additional olive oil or flour to form a dough ball.
  4. KNEAD until it gets smooth and elastic for about 5 minutes.
  5. ROLL the dough into a circle and place it on a greased pan(I greased it using olive oil; you can use butter too if you prefer it).
  6. For pizza sauce, COMBINE all ingredients in a food processor.  Blend until smooth, about 30 seconds.
  7. TOP the pizza with pizza sauce(directions below), toppings and cheese. I've tried with chicken, sausage, olives, onions and cheese. And another with Ham, sausage and pineapple, topped with cheese.
  8. BAKE on bottom rack of the oven for 12 to 15mins or until all the ingredients are cooked and the cheese is bubbly and the crust is brown.
